Anticholinergic

Adds to anticholinergic burden, particularly in older patients

Mechanism of action

Competitive antagonist at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors. Blocks vagal tone at the sinoatrial and atrioventricular nodes, raising heart rate in symptomatic bradycardia; also used in organophosphate poisoning and as an antisialagogue.
